How a sale goes

Nothing on Qlout is bought outright. Every lot is won in a room and paid for afterwards.

  1. Watch the room

A seller streams the lot and takes bids in real time. The video, the bid feed and the clock are the same for every viewer, driven by the server. No account needed.

  2. Bid against the clock

Bidding opens at the price the seller set, and each bid has a minimum step. The highest bid when the clock stops takes the lot.

  3. Pay within 15 minutes

Win and you have 15 minutes from the close to pay. Miss it and the lot passes to the next bidder at their own bid.

The deadline is the server’s. Every clock on Qlout is drawn against it with your browser’s offset measured once, because a bidding clock that drifts is a financial fault rather than a cosmetic one.

The part worth reading

The clock nobody can snipe

On most auction sites the winning move is to bid in the last second, when nobody has time to answer. Here that move buys everyone else more time instead.

15sadded by a late bid
A bid inside the final 10 seconds pushes the deadline out by 15. Only an accepted bid extends it.
5 minthe extension cannot exceed
Per lot, across every extension it earns. A room cannot be held open indefinitely by two people trading bids.
1 stepbid and extension, together
The deadline moves in the same atomic step that accepts the bid, so there is no instant where one has happened and the other has not.
  • Your money is not held by us

Payment settles into the gateway’s escrow against the seller’s own account and is released once delivery is confirmed.

  • Card numbers are never stored

Not by the seller, and not by us — not even encrypted. The gateway captures the payment and confirms it by a signed webhook.

  • Every seller is approved first

A store submits its legal name, PAN and business type, and a person at Qlout reviews it before anything is listed.

  • Reviews come from real purchases

A review can only be written against an order that was paid for and received, and it rates the store rather than the lot.

Before you bid

8 questions

Questions people actually ask

Including the two nobody enjoys answering: what the payment window is, and what happens if you miss it.

What do I pay on top of my winning bid?

A convenience fee of 3% of the bid with 18% GST on it, and delivery for your PIN code with 18% GST. The full amount is shown at checkout before you pay.

Can I get a refund?

Yes, in full, if the order is not dispatched or not delivered, or the item arrives damaged, wrong or not as described and you tell us within 48 hours of delivery. Refunds go back to the original payment method.

Can I buy something outright instead of bidding?

No. Every listing on Qlout is an auction lot, won in a live room. There is no cart, no Buy Now and no fixed-price checkout — a lot carries one price, which is where bidding opens.

What happens if I bid in the last second?

The clock moves. A bid inside the final 10 seconds pushes the deadline out by 15 seconds, up to 5 minutes of extension per lot. Only an accepted bid extends it, and the extension is applied in the same step that accepts the bid — so sniping does not work here, and you cannot lose a lot to somebody who timed it better.

I won. What now?

You have 15 minutes from the close to pay, counted on the server’s clock rather than your browser’s. Pay inside it and the seller ships; the money is released to them once delivery is confirmed.

What if I win and do not pay?

The offer passes to the next bidder at their own bid — not at yours — and they get their own 15-minute window. The default is recorded against your account, and a repeat default suspends it. A bid is a commitment, which is why this is spelled out before you make one.

Can I pay cash on delivery?

No. Every order is prepaid. Cash on delivery combines the risk of a returned parcel with a bid that was already binding, so it is not offered on any lot.

Who holds my money between paying and delivery?

The payment gateway does, in escrow against the seller’s own sub-account. Qlout instructs the hold and the release and keeps the ledger, but never takes custody of the funds — an Indian marketplace is not permitted to.
